There are some people out there (you know who you are Ilka) that think my whole trip has been nothing but a holiday. In my defense, I would like to say that although I have had a lot of fun, I have been working quite hard ... kinda sorta, promoting my art and Glenn's book. Even though my work is fun, I believe I still deserve a little fun in the sun.
A lot of my photos are taken through the window of a moving vehicle as my travel companions are all about the destination rather than the journey, teehee. No stopping unless you need to pee. In hindsight I should have said I needed to stop when I really didn't. Only kidding ... my travel companions were awesome.
After a wonderful and beautifully scenic road trip through the Cascade Mountains, we arrived at our destination much to the delight of my travel companions. I helped unpack the car and the headed off to the Columbia River which is just across the street from the trailer (caravan in Aus.) we were staying in.
After a glorious week in the sun we sadly said goodbye to Crescent Bar. I for one, (the only one) was happy for another road trip through the mountains I fell in love with. Some more drive by shootings (with a camera) captured our journey.
What joy, what delight ... we stopped in Leavenworth, a Bavarian like town. I was very excited and snapped happily away. The buildings reminded me of my heritage. A band was playing music reminiscent of music my dad used to play, loudly ... so loudly in fact that he used to go out in his workshop instead of turning it down teehee.
Back on the road to continue the journey through the Cascades. As we climbed higher, the weather changed. It rained a little and got quite cool. Higher and higher we climbed until we went through the clouds.Overwhelmingly beautiful. So beautiful that it made me quite emotional and my eyes leaked a little.
Off on another road trip next Sunday. We are off to Clatskanie, Oregon to visit one of our tribe, Jan. Then onto Portland but that's a whole other blog post ...
